Remembering Valued Friends

Juanita Colvin

Juanita May Colvin

May 9, 1945 – June 20, 2022

Juanita moved her family from Las Vegas to Goldfield in the Mid 1970’s.   That was a lucky move for Ben Colvin, the love of her life, as well as the rest of us who knew, loved and admired her.   She served Esmeralda County as Justice of the Peace for 27 years retiring in 2017.  Juanita was known to be a tough but fair judge and that earned her a Lifetime Achievement Award for her work as Justice of the Peace.  She was quick to say that her favorite part of the office was performing weddings.  Juanita was a lifetime member and unfaltering supporter of the Goldfield Historical Society.   Bottle digging and collecting antiques and history were just her thing.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and a true friend to so many of here in Goldfield.   Our hearts are broken for husband, Ben, and all their family.  Our world is a darker place without her.

Bryan H. Smalley

December 21, 1960 – October 30, 2021

Bryan was long time resident and popular businessman of Goldfield as well as an active life-time member and steadfast supporter of the Goldfield Historical Society.  Bryan loved his
family, rocks and woodworking.  He was our go-to rock guy.  Bryan could find a rock for any project and cut it to order.  His woodwork is displayed all over town on custom-made signs for businesses and streets. Many people have him to thank for locating the graves of relatives in our local cemetery.  So, it is only fitting that he rests in the cemetery he knew and watched over so well.  Our hearts go out to his widow, Elva, son, Travis and his lovely family.  Bryan was a true and valued friend and we mourn his passing.
